How to update the business partner type (BPKIND) in business partner data table (BUT000 table)?

In Business partner (BUT000 Table) I need to change business partner Type (BPKIND) for the existing business partners. I tried to use BAPI BAPI_BUPA_CENTRAL_CHANGE & BAPI_BUSINESS_PARTNER_MODIFY but they are not working.

Can anybody suggest me BAPI or function module or any other alternative way (other than from BP transaction) to change this data in SAP CRM? We are using CRM 4.0.
